With so many great action movies coming out this summer, there was no shortage of inspiration for the boy’s costumes. Superhero costumes have always been popular with boys but now more than ever do we have a big selection to choose from. 1. The first on our list is of course the marvel comic hero Captain America! Children love this movie just as much as the adults. 2011 is all about Disney, Cartoons characters, and dolls for the girls costumes. We are still seeing new Alice in Wonderland themed costume as well as an all new Tangled themed lineup. Its not all about princesses and girly costumes this year. There is a trend towards the more goul-y this year with a new release of Monster High costumes based on the popular fashion dolls.

1. We’re expecting the Tangled inspired Rapunzel costume to be the bestseller this Halloween season. With an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes this film is one of Disney’s most popular new movies. Children absolutely adore the main character who is both pretty and adventuresome. Interestingly enough, the costume does not include the long blond hair so we expect some girls will want to style their own hair. But if you can’t live without the hair, its only $18.99 for a Disney licensed blond wig.
2. Monster High is a group of fashion dolls with a twist. All the characters are the daughters of famous monsters. This year there are all new costumes for each of the characters. The main character, Frankie Stein, is the clumsy one who looses her limbs from time to time. The costume is absolutely adorable with light blue leggings and sleaves lined with stiches just like the doll has. We do recommend buying the wig that comes separately to complete the look.



3. Frankie has a friend named Lagoona Blue who is the daughter of sea monster. Her underwater inspired outfit is so cute. The costume even includes little fins on the arms and leggings. Definitely don’t forget to pick up the blonde wig with teal stripes cause it completes this doll inspired look!
4. This year we finally have a Cheshire Cat costume for girls. It’s about time! This one is even more fun than some of the adult ones we’ve seen. The cute little leg warmers and arm warmers make the costume. It even comes with a fuzzy ear headband. This one maxes out on the cuteness scale.
5. Of corse every child who ran out to see Pirate’s 4 will be into the all new Pirate’s 4 costumes. The Angelica costumes matches the adult version almost exactly which makes it extra cute. The best thing about it is it includes everything except the sword.
6. Fairies have always been popular and now your child can dress up as a Barbie themed fairy! This all pink fairy costume has a lot of pizazz with a 3 layer ruffle skirt and a cute butterfly belt. You’ll be relieved to know that this one includes the fairy wings. This is one they will want to wear year round!



7. Red Riding Hood costumes are coming back in a big way this year and this child’s version is one of the nicest we’ve seen. The detailing on this dress is fabulous and gives an authentic renaissance look. We absolutely love that this one comes with a full length cape that we don’t often see on this costume.
8. The Strawberry Shortcake trend continues into 2011 but now there are all new character costumes for her friends like Blueberry Muffin. Finally! The Blueberry Muffin character comes with a slick blue jacket and cute little green and white tights just like the cartoon character has. These costumes would make a great set for a group of four friends.
9. When we saw the new Elmo costume for girls we knew it would be an instant success. Everyone’s favorite Sesame Street character now has a costume for little girls. The frilly red dress is adorable and can probably be warn on other occasions as well. Of course the part that makes the costume is the silly Elmo face headband. This is a costume to remember!



10. This year is not just about pinks ruffles and frilly dresses. However, the new Punk Skeleton costume proves you can be both scarey and fashionable at the same time. We love how all the little bones are bright pink and it comes with a hip punk-style skirt. This costume definitely has that cool factor, as well as being too cute for words.

For the women, this year’s top costumes are based on exciting new movies and some throwbacks to the classic costumes. We continue to see brand new Alice in Wonderland costumes as well as some sexy new pirate costumes for Pirates 4. Without one coherent theme, we expect to see lots of variety on the woman’s front this year.

1. 1. First we have the much anticipated Angelica Costume. What woman doesn’t want to be Penelope Cruz? This costume is a stunning Disney licensed costume with almost everything included, except the sword. Knowing Disney, this costume will be made of high quality materials.
2. 2. We knew there were going to be some interesting developments for red riding hood costumes, given the release of the Red Riding Hood movie staring Amanda Seyfried. But we were not the expecting the intricacy found in the Deluxe Red Riding Hood costume. This mini-dress style costume features 3 layers of fabric and bow and rose detailing which give it a more elegant look than prior versions of this costume. The dress and cape are made of red velvet instead the nylon found on most costumes. This one is sure to be a head turner.
3. Female super heroes are hot and the Masters of the Universe is no exception! The ladies She-Ra costume is exclusive and at a great price point. Available in small, medium and large.
4. It’s not often that we find a woman’s costume that is both incredibly sexy and scary! The female Edward Scissorhands costume is just that. It could be paired with the men’s version for a great couples ensemble.
5. All new for this year, we have a fun twist on the sexy cop outfit. Its a Sultry SWAT Officer. The cute thing about this costume is the buckles around the waist that give that form fitted look. This is another costume that comes complete with all the accessories you need in the package.



6. Fairies have always been popular for young and old alike. This year we were blown away by the new Woodland Fairy Costume. The petticoat style of this costume gives a much more elegant look than we’ve seen in prior fairy costumes. The woodland fairy wings (sold separately) are also more realistic than any wings we’ve seen before. 7. Superhero costumes aren’t just for men anymore. Sucker Punch brought us an all female cast of characters for this Halloween season. We thought the Sweat Pea costume was one of the cutest with its matching hood and booty shorts. Buy the sword separately, and you’ve got a complete costume.



8. Geisha costumes take a colorful twist this Halloween with the Far East Empress costume. We’ve never seen such a colorful Asian-inspired costume. It’s so beautiful that it almost looks like a dress you would want to wear throughout the year. It even comes with the hair accessories and fan so you don’t have to shop for extras.
9. We were so excited to find out that Disney finally got around to releasing a White Queen costume based on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. The costume has all the elegance and poise you would expect in a White Queen dress. The shear sleeves give a beautiful glow that will illuminate your skin as you float to your Halloween parties.



10. Last but not least, the cutest costume award goes to the Stinkin’ Cute Skunk adult costume. Fuzzy costumes are not just for kids. The athletic inspired zip up dress allows you to be both comfortable and adorable. The skunk hoodie is reminiscent of the lost boys from Peter Pan and other fairy tale creatures.

6. Transformer’s 3 Dark of the moon is one of the highest grossing films in 2011, so it’s no surprise that there are some elaborate new costumes out this year. 7. We’re not quite sure why Edward Scissorhands is so popular in 2011. 8. There have been rumors floating around that there will be a new He-Man movie in production called Greyscull, but you don’t have to wait for the movie to portray this retro superhero. This is one of those everything included costumes. You even get the classic blond wig.
9. One of the most visually stunning movies of the year now has equally stunning costumes. There are two Thor inspired men’s costumes one for Thor and one for his arch nemesis Loki. 10. The Abdominal Snowman is one of those classic costumes that never goes out of style. The inflatable shoulders give that tall cowering look. We are surprised that such a theatrical costume is selling for just $99.99. This costume guarantees you will be remembered at any party.

The 2010 Alice Movie Costumes are hot, hot, hot! The Alice costumes are available in short sexy versions and a more traditional long dress. The actual movie costume, although adorable in pictures, is not getting great reviews but fortunately there are lots of other options to choose from. Of course the Johnny Depp Mad Hatter costumes are flying off the shelves. A late arrival on the scene, just in stock this week, is the Mario Bros Wario Costume.  It is not available in retail stores, only sold on the Internet and because of its late arrival, only your friends that procrastinated like you will have it. lol. We celebrated Halloween last night at a local party. I had so much fun in my Dame of the Dead costume. My friend Jeannie helped me with the makeup and it was perfect.  Even my close friends didn’t recognize me until I spoke.

The ladies Day of the Dead costume was easy to wear. I am too old for many of the modern, sexy costumes. This one covered me up and was great to dance in. There were black lights near the dance floor and I guess I glowed! Friends tried to get a picture but um, I don’t think the black light glow will come across in a flash picture. Guess you had to be there.

The Dame of the Dead and Del Muerto Groom Costumes were exclusives at my favorite Halloween retailer. They are quality costumes coming with all you need except for makeup and possibly a wig for the ladies costume. And you’ll need your own shoes. I wore black boots with mine.

If you’re looking to do a whole family outfit to celebrate El Dia de los Muertos, I would suggest picking up a kids skeleton costume, not using the mask (masks are uncomfortable anyway) and adding your own makeup.

7. Star Wars Clone Wars Deluxe Commander Fox Child Costume.  Quality new Star Wars Costume for 2009. Comes with jumpsuit, boot covers and mask.  The pictures all show a blaster too which you’ll have to get separately for the full look. Impressive looking costume in child small, medium, and large.

8. and 9. GI Joe Storm Shadow Deluxe Child Costume and GI Joe Snake Eyes Classic Child Costume.  Storm Shadow in white and Snake Eyes in black. Both have the ninja fighter look. The costumes include top, pants, hood and gloves. Swords sold separately.

10.  Punk Creep Child Costume – This is the one that the pre-teens are going to love.  The mask has a scary face with a punk hair do. The Punks Not Dead Shirt is included and you’ll want to add pants, belt, and guitar.
