1. and 2. – The first two costumes come from the ever popular Nintendo games. The Super Mario Costume and deluxe Mario Brothers Luigi Costume are available in child and toddler sizes.  We like the comfortable jumpsuit with inflatable belly.  The kids will laugh and laugh when they put this on and inflate the belly!  It also comes with hat and mustache.  This means no mask! Masks can look impressive but are not fun to wear for a very long time. 

3. Deluxe Batman Brave & Bold Costume. This costume also comes in child and toddler sizes and is based on the popular animated Batman, The Brave and the Bold TV series. Batman costumes are popular year after year.

4. and 5. Two Transformers costumes are in the top 10 costume picks this year. The Transformers Optimus Prime Movie 3-D Deluxe Child Costume and the Transformers Bumblebee Movie 3-D Deluxe Child Costume.  They both have a great robot look and the older boys will love these costumes. No toddler sizes.  Adult costumes are also available for Dad!

6.  From the X-Men Origins movie, Wolverine. The muscle chest makes for a great look and the claws will be a lot of fun although possibly a little annoying during trick or treat. The mask is more of a hood and should be comfortable.

7. Star Wars Clone Wars Deluxe Commander Fox Child Costume.  Quality new Star Wars Costume for 2009. Comes with jumpsuit, boot covers and mask.  The pictures all show a blaster too which you’ll have to get separately for the full look. Impressive looking costume in child small, medium, and large.

8. and 9. GI Joe Storm Shadow Deluxe Child Costume and GI Joe Snake Eyes Classic Child Costume.  Storm Shadow in white and Snake Eyes in black. Both have the ninja fighter look. The costumes include top, pants, hood and gloves. Swords sold separately.

10.  Punk Creep Child Costume – This is the one that the pre-teens are going to love.  The mask has a scary face with a punk hair do. The Punks Not Dead Shirt is included and you’ll want to add pants, belt, and guitar.

We researched major online costume retailers and are listing the top ten new girls costumes for this year.  Of course, this is using today’s data and next week there may be a new ranking of popular girls costumes.  We suggest that if you find the one you want, shop early as some costumes will be hard to find.

The bestsellers will of course change from week to week, this list is what we like right now. We tried to include a mix of costumes that are appropriate for boys and girls.  So here we go:

2. Disneys Infant Ariel Ballerina Costume – Beautiful Little Mermaid Costume in one size 12 – 18 months. Bargain price too!

3. Infant/Toddler Lamb Costume – Baby will be so cuddly in this outfit! And if the weather turns cool, this costume covers up baby. Sized from 6 months to 2T.

4. Infant/Toddler T-Rex Costume – Who would have thought a t-rex dinosaur would be so cute? Available in 12 montohs to 4T.  A child that is walking will really show off this costume.

5. Disneys Snow White Ballerinai Costume – Another great Disney costume for the little ones – size 12 to 18 months. You can’t beat the price either.

6. Here Comes Trouble Costume – You have to see this one. It’s a combination of devil and angel. We Moms can all relate to that! Available in sizes from 6 months to 2T.

7. Infant/Toddler Black Kitty Costume – Black kitty with pink stomach and pink ears.

 8. Precious Puppy Costume – Man’s best friend, cute puppy costume with floppy ears and bone collar.

9. Infant/Toddler Little Kirk Costume – Star Trek costumes for babies! Little Kirk and Little Spock in infant and toddler sizes. The gold shirt for Kirk and blue shirt for Spock.

10. Infant Tiny Tiger Costume – A great tiger look with full jumpsuit and over the head tiger face. I went to LSU and think this would be a great costume for Tiger fans!

The Joker Costumes come in standard, deluxe and grand versions. The Joker Costume includes the purple jacket and green vest with the diabolical face mask and wig.  There are also several clown masks including the School Bus Driver, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, and Chuckles. I can see some fun and strange parties with bringing several masks and changing them throughout the evening. Unfortunately, some of these new costumes and masks will not be in stock until August.  The ones that are in stock now are expected to sell out early. Based on the popularity of the movie, these will be in demand Halloween costumes.  The Joker masks can be quite scary so use your judgement around small children.
